  1. In part one, VICE News travels to Alto Monte de Israel to meet the messianic sect known as the Israelites, and learn about their prophet, Ezequiel Ataucusi, who led them to settle in the Amazon jungle.

Watch “Peru: The New King of Coke” – http://bit.ly/1zchU6u

  2. does it really rustle the government's jimmies that much if some secluded civilization grows coca leaves? let them be, for fucks sake

  3. Wonder how hard it would be to grow coca in the northern part of the usa..  Not like anyone would recognize it, you could fill your entire yard with the stuff, could be a cash cow..   hhmmmmmm

  4. He was supposed to reincarnate 3 days later. When he doesn't there's your proof the religions bullshit! Make up more excuses why your faith hasn't been fulfilled yet

  5. what can go wrong with this picture ? …. religion nuts, middle of the freaking forest, and cocaine, 7:30–7:50 lmfao resurrection failed ?…….. nice costumes btw.

  6. Hahahahahah, all these idiots realized he was coming back on the third day and thought he moved into his sons body hahahahahaha. They all look like idiots and realize they are after he died. Good thing he died or else peru would be much worse than it is now, we all know religion and government should never mix regardless of the type of religion.

  7. Im guessing the leader took advantage of religion and used it as a means of controlling his followers to grow and produce coca for him like good little slaves.

  8. That Ezequiel guy sounds like a nutter, but then again Jesus, Mohammed, and all the other 'prophets' claimed the same thing, they just got more followers. 😛 Some people will just believe anything…

  9. So in Peru what percentage % of the total population follow Judaism????? I thought south America was mostly catholic

  10. I wonder how awkward it must have been when he didnt come back the third day. Lol, imagine them just standing there thing "Well ,shit".

  11. In other words, these people are gullible sheeps. I wonder why their leader, didn't rise on the third day of his death?

  12. Daniel used to be the host of the Ayotzinapa case…what happend there? I'd love to see this series continued!

  13. I wonder if their dead spiritual leader imagined it to look like this. Or if they twisted his message as is usual.

  14. Can you guys do a documentary on Hezbollah in Colombia? They smuggle petroleum from Venezuela and make millions. They are involved in smuggling with Iranian Quds in Venezuela to fund terrorist activities.Thank you. I can take you to the areas.

  15. Why tha fuck we atheists can't create a sort-of religion of ours? It does serve a purpose you know…we can glorify (as opposed to warship) the sun, stars and life…one day a month maybe and …boom…people will start joining us and…boom…we will get tax breaks 🙂

  16. Gamonal's cosmology was a complex and often confusing mixture of Seventh-day Adventism, Judaism and Inca legend. From the 1960s until his death, he taught that various apocalyptic disasters were about to befall the world, although on several occasions he was able to delay their arrival by petitioning God for more time. As a result, the deadline for the end of the world, originally scheduled for this year, was regularly pushed back.
It was beyond doubt, however, that Gamonal's followers, most of whom were peasants uprooted from their villages by the collapse of the rural economy in the 1970s, derived spiritual comfort from his teachings. For many, the Israelites' life of prayer offered a peaceful alternative to the Shining Path, the Maoist guerillas who terrorised Peru during the 1980s.
Gamonal was married several times but was renowned for his voracious sexual appetite. He nurtured political ambitions, twice running for President of Peru. He himself never wore the priestly robes of the Levites, explaining that he would only do so when it was time to announce the apocalypse. He died during the Israelites' Pentecost celebrations, and disappointed many of his followers by failing to fulfil his promise that he would rise again after three days.

  17. You can't really say these people aren't happy.  Happiness is relative to a person's existence.  That is to say different people place importance in different aspects of their lives.  We in Western society base our happiness off of material wealth.  These people in the video could be dirt poor, but extremely happy because they can put food on the table and have family around them.  Other than that it was a good video.

  18. They are not called Ataucusis, they are called Israelis of the new universal Pact, and were once directed by Ezequiel Ataucusi, who followed an old testament kinda sect. He tried to run for president in Peru tru the Frepap ( agrarian popular front )  he ordered the colonization of the amazon forest, in what he said was a living frontiers policy.. In Peru in his time he was seen as an excentrict by the majoritarin christian population.. because of the beards, the cloting, etc. But gained kinda popularity among the poorest, because he postulated that they were the chosen people..so while sometimes discriminated by their andean origins by some, in his religion they were actually special. racism, regretebly was and is still a problem in Peru, specially toward people of the andes and who recently inmigrated to the cities.

  19. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.

    The Narrow Gate

    (Luke 13:22-30)

13Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

this means, there is a way which seems right to a man but the end thereof is death.
    You must be Born Again.

  20.  This documentary must be entitled "How create a new religion", because it shows how easy is it  to create a new religion. Main monotheisms were created this way, three or four of them reached planetary succes and became international faith corporations. Ingredients to create a new religion: men (self-proclaimed prophet: Moses, Muhammad, Jesus, Siddhartha; Atahucusi, etc…. ) having "hallucinations" with their respective "Gods" once their hallucinations translated and written,  like holy orders and turned into ideology books,  it's set and ready to implant this software (like a software we put into chips) into human brains since childhood, this way people's brain is moulded and the cycle goes on and on…

  21. Corrupt and indecisive governments go a long way.
Drugs are just scapegoats obviously. This sect is no crazier than any other religious group – in fact, at least they're not cannibals, or drink blood, like Roman Catholics do.
Nobody is forced to take drugs, that's a choice, always. I'm embarrassed about how short-sighted most people are.
