Scientology Beliefs and Practices: The Reactive Mind

Scientology Beliefs and Practices: The Reactive Mind

[♪ ♪] [♪ ♪] NARRATOR:
As you go through life, your mind records everything
that happens to you. Every experience
you’ve ever had, from the beginning
of your existence until this very moment. These experiences
are stored as pictures in your Analytical Mind, the conscious part of your mind that thinks rationally, remembers and solves problems. But there is another
part of the mind that does not think rationally, and cannot make sane decisions, called the Reactive Mind. It contains all of the pain
and unconsciousness you have accumulated
throughout your existence. All the bad things that have
ever happened to you. It is a discovery
of Scientology that the contents stored
in the reactive mind can be activated, negatively affecting
our thoughts, behavior and physical
well being. Whenever you experience pain
and unconsciousness, the analytical mind shuts down
and the reactive mind takes over and starts recording everything
that’s happening to you. All of it,
down to the last detail, is recorded
in the reactive mind. The pain can be physical or emotional. The unconsciousness
can be partial, or total. But in any case, everything
that happened is stored in exact detail
in your reactive mind where it has
the potential to influence your thoughts and behavior,
even your health, without you knowing it. Some time later, when you’re
tired or under stress the recording in the
reactive mind can be activated, causing you to think and act
in ways you don’t understand. FEMALE: I need to get away
from here. NARRATOR: The reactive mind is the single source
of your nightmares, unexplained fears,
upsets and insecurities. You have accumulated many moments of pain
and unconsciousness in your reactive mind. Using the technology of auditing you can contact
these experiences and, by examining them, fully eliminate their influence
over your health, your emotions
and your attitude towards life. By overcoming and eradicating
your reactive mind, and its unconscious influence
over your life, you can be free. You can be Clear. [♪ ♪] [♪ ♪]
