Games are a great way to learn about democracy or any other topic because not only do you enjoy the game but you also learn in a very fun way. We’ve developed New Shores to target young people or especially those who work with young people to help them teach about common issues, democracy, sustainability, and also competence development, such as social competencies or mathematical competencies, and also entrepreneurial competencies and a sense of initiative. So if you are working with young people and would like to improve your students’ or learners’ competencies, then this game is for you. In this game you land on a desert island and you strive to survive. So you have to find new ways how to collaborate with other players and how to manage common resources. and how to manage common resources. Something that you may love about this game is that New Shores may be played with the whole class so you don’t have to divide them. You can play it as one unit even if you have twenty or more students. New Shores is an online multiplayer game. All you need to play it is a computer or a tablet with a web browser and Internet connection. The next step in the project is recruiting people like you who are interested in introducing new methods to teach about
democracy. The game and the supportive materials are available in four languages: in English, Polish, Slovak and Hungarian.
