  1. love your talks Mr Gupta ji, makes sense, unlike other channels there is nothing but shouting and fighting. keep it up !

  2. Long live democracy. Let the largest party forms government in any elections and problems will be solved right away .Post this rule anybody joining any party must wait for next five years or incase of resignation let that seat be vacant until next elections.
India political system needs some reforms in terms of elections and government formation.

  3. Seems like the so called political parties have no intensions for the state to come up or work for the people of Karnataka, India comes first then their parties, shame shame…..

  4. Character of Indian politician. Well said. However, the same character also applicable when Congress was having upper hand long before. Those times, no one one want to talk against Congress. Indira Gandhi was responsible for pulling out MLAs from TDP govt when NTR was Chief Minister and she went to make the CM of Congress party with less than 50% seats in AP then. Of course, the drama lasted for 30 days under Nadella Bhaskar Rao and he had to resign and governor had to reinstate NTR back in power. Indira was not saint. But no one complaints.

  5. This anti defection law is anti democratic as it puts parties interests above people. Brexit is a standing example where the ruling party lost a secret ballot yet won the no confidence motion. That would never happen in India as parties would force an outcome that is anti people thanks to whips and anti defection law. Why is it that our democracy will run away from secret ballots. Even the party presidents are elected by whips. In some of our states (Delhi) as well as center there is no opposition leader. There is no one to balance the power except for an unelected RS or upper house in the state. In Karnataka people were not allowed a say as to who the CM should be it was decided by a mother and son sitting in Delhi. How is it democracy?

  6. Wt abt Cong and JD getting together…..did they seek vote on coalition…….post poll coalition shouldn't be allowed

  7. "Brute majority stong individualized personalized leaders" That suits Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi – but Shekhar is complaining about Modi/BJP. Shekhar is a hypocrite Congress spokesperson.

  8. The Feudal Lords like Nehru, Indra, Rajiv, Sonia & Rahul would like to control so-called people representatives by bribing or physical power and treat them as Slaves!!!! Kharge & DKShiv holding & pulling Dr. Sudakar or tearing Muniratna's Resignation of their own party MLA is the way of converting the temple of democracy (Vidana Souda) into Den of Sonia!!!

  9. Disagree with you on this . MLA are to re-contest , Which will give opportunity for people to choose them again if they are deserving

  10. Most important aspect of your talk is that elected reps are no longer free to speak their mind on the floor of the house, inspite of the Constitution protecting them from all legal liabilities for saying anything on the floor of the house. Little wonder that the quality of debate in the Houses has touched nadir in the last thirty years. I recall that Tenth Schedule to the Constitution was introduced in a haste, using brute majority which Rajiv Gandhi had, without adequate discussion. Repealing the 10th Schedule is no remedy. That will encourage more responsible defections every day or every hour. Only effective remedy is to amend the Representation of People Act, to give right to voters to initiate proceeding for recall of elected reps. One suggestion is that it should be initiated by a representation signed by not less than 10000 voters of the Constituency, presented to the Election Commission. I will tell you, mere existence of such provision will discipline the parties and elected reps. It need not even be actually initiated anywhere.

  11. Anti-defection law was bullshit anyway. I don't think our unamended constitution recognises the importance of political parties, it just talks about representatives of people. People are encouraged to vote for the best rep, not any party.

  12. Apart from national parties, all the regional parties are run by a founder / president have no democratic ethics expect prrsonal interests. Defection may takes place commonly since past. The present bill in force is to be ratified.

  13. The single most important reason for these sad events in Karnataka is because Kumaraswamy was made CM even though his party JDS had secured a miserable 37 seats in the 224 seat Karnataka assembly. Even though Congress got nearly 80 seats, they have handed over CM post to JDS just to keep BJP out of power. .BJP has secured a very good 104 seats, and shockingly have become opposition. If Congress had secured CM post, these sad events could have been avoided. In this tamasha the people of Karnataka are the greatest losers. People have been cheated.

  14. Shekar also talk on TRS and TDP also. These have been very bad incidents. In Karnataka case the MLA's are resigning. Your argument is only directed against BJP.

  15. Mr. Gupta – Don't blame on law or system. Blame on who facilitated this type of corrupt & Lutyens culture. Any law can be breakable. If you ask anyone who born before 90, will tell you what #Congress did & how they were running the country. #CongressMuktBharath is necessary for the country to put it on right track.

  16. It is 2/3rd, below that defection or merger illegal. Initially it was 1/3rd but later amendment, it was made 2/3rd. Proper research is required.

  17. Have you heard of a concionce vote. A corrupt Madhu Koda became CM. Should an honest MLA support this man because of anti defection law?

  18. Cbi Ed all kind of tax officials why they do not catch these idiots who collect money and favours illegally? They did demonitization for what purpose?

  19. R Shankar got Environment, Forest, Ecology – This is not a small ministry Shekhar! – Think of a corrupt politician and think FOREST – Now imagine all the loot he did in the pristine forests of Karnataka. See?

  20. This law has all loop holes. What is the purpose of election if politics move away from one party? No one to question?

  21. Politicians – are a reflection of our society!

There were times, when the character of person was valued and people use to stand by the word. In today's society, there is hardly any value left for character & word. And, we all are responsible for it. Now, we expect the politician to be a good guy, conviniently forgetting this guy is the worst product of our own society(which is us). Till, we don't change our society(which is ourselves), we will have more & more such examples.
Unfortunately, India which used to be respected for its character, is fast losing it. And, there is very little hope or maybe no hope, on the horizon.

  22. Jai Shri Ram! BJP government in Karnataka for sure. The Congress-JD(S) alliance was purely opportunistic and did not have the mandate of the people of Karnataka. This government is on its way out…
