  1. War. Still don't know if the Vietnam War was necessary. War. i prayed seriously for a young man i was engaged to and he managed to come out alive only to lose him to a California blond bimbo in San Diego where he was stationed. A couple years later and 2 daughters later, he had his mother call me to apologize how he hurt me by dropping our engagement for no explanation and was now divorced. i said, i hope he returns to the mother of his children and i have a new boyfriend. i got ethics. i have a code i live by. i am not just another pretty face. all i ever wanted was one big happy family. It's the American Dream. See i was engaged to be married at age 15 but Mom wouldn't let us get married until i graduated from high school. i said, Mom, you married at age 15 and had a baby at age 16. She said, that was a different time. So i guess that's the way the cards fell. So i lost my fiancee to a blond thief. Men should wear engagement rings. The World didn't need what i learned in high school. See your first choice is usually your right choice and i never knew anyone i laughed with so much. i was the brains. serious. i was a Business Major, number 6 of 8 children, sandwiched in between boys and everyone was working their American Dream. We were together since i was 14. i was a Nanny for a Presbyterian Family part time school year and full time summers. My back was hurting me then too and the Minister came in and heard me moan as i was on my hands and knees washing all the wooden floors of a 2 floor house. So i got my Social Security number and on my 16th birthday i went and applied for a desk job in a catalog sales job and again part time school year and full time summers. If we would had married when i was 17, i would had been a enlisted man's wife with a apartment off base with children. i know it. i was industrious. He was a funny guy and a loving son, a nice brother and a good friend and we had sooooooo many friends and if we had gotten married, i would be a grandmother today. Betcha. Well. It ain't over until it's over. You sure had a lot of courage in Russia. My Dad's Dad came from East Germany when WW2 was over and we opened our arms. He came in the front door in Ellis Island. He built pipe organs and tuned organs for lutheran churches. In the United States he became a peach farmer. i am a Born Again on fire Christian. God called me to reach our generation for Christ. i am back. Was watching the 2013 Awards in the Kennedy Center, my Dad and my fav Tony Bennett introduction. Congratulations belated. Don't ask where i was. Busy Billy Joel. So. Took a moment this morning to read up on ya. Are you still residing sometimes in Boca Raton? Hey i was sure you Italian?????? Hey atheist man. Ya gotta been kicked around a bit to decide to say that. Sorry. Life's a beach. And then ya die. lol Just a joke. Hey, really, ya gotta have more faith to be a atheist. Let's just put it this way. Ya don't want to talk about it cause ya gotta a gig to do for your growing family. It'ssa ok. But don't blame Jesus for what people did and everybody has made a fool of themselves one time or another and ya even have to fo'give yo'self sometimes. Who can live without Jesus? Soon the world celebrates Easter which comes from the pagan goddess Eostre lololol news ya can use? lolo right lolol But i call it Resurrection Sunday cuz, life would not be worth it, without a risen Savior. if i can roll the dirt of this world and bad happennings over on THE LORD and let Him heal me of it and press forward to live for Jesus and do that which He would have me to do, so can you my friend. Your talent is a gift and we came into this life with nothing and we are sure to leave with nothing but that's not entirely true. You can leave a legacy of forgiving and loving and you can choose to throw bad stuff in GOD's sea of forgetfulness which the bible says GOD has for GOD is a reasonable GOD and He says "come unto Me, all who labour and are heavy laden and I WILL give you rest." the devil fights this tooth and nail but THE LORD Jesus Christ still forgives sin TODAY. Ah, GOD calls unbelief sin too. Well just about everything is a sin and as a matter of fact we inherited Adam's sin. It's in the flesh and only a Savior can save us from ourselves even. Today, after so long time, don't harden your heart but repent (change your mind) ask GOD to forgive you and turn back to Him. He is waiting. Hey if i like you Billy Joel, just think about how much GOD loves you. He is calling you now Billy Joel. Today is the day of salvation. Today is your day to make peace with your Maker. GOD is love. Just repeat after me friend. You're right GOD. I am wrong. i am sorry. It takes a big man to say 'i am sorry.' Just do it and everyday, put on love and walk and talk with Jesus, your best friend and just do your best Papa. When that human memory stirs bad feelings, shut it down and go do good Papa. Fo'getta 'bout it. Come home. Celebrate Our Risen Savior. aw just come visit my facebook timeline from time to time and ya'll catch on. Jesus loves you and so do i, Billy Joel. i love your songs. Be blessed. Favored. And empowered to prosper. Love, Peg P. S. Here's a song by the Cathedrals. Go listen to this old fashion love song. It's a Gospel Favorite by the Quartet called The Cathedrals. I'm gonna live forever. I'm gonna die. No never. Jesus died on a tree for me and i'm gonna live forever. It's a great tune to hum while your working. See. i made up my mind. i made the decision to go to heaven and to take as many people with me as i can and you are next. Oh let it be i meet you beyond this life into the next. Streets of gold. Hey, ya wanna know what makes heaven heaven? Jesus is there. Ya dont wanna miss this Man.

  2. 😢 I've already lost Aunt to murder in 1993, Mom to illness in 2001 now I've got 2 Uncles fighting Agent Orange. I've just won my battles with health issues. I'm trying to get $ to bring everyone to concert in Oct. for my birthday.

  3. First time I saw him perform this live was in Norfolk, VA in 1984 while I was serving in the U.S. Air Force. Brought us to tears with his passion. So poignant…even today.

  4. That was beautiful. The original recording is one thing, but live you can really feel the emotion; he really means every word he sings and man is it powerful. It captures the sorrow and the brotherly love of Vietnam, of friends who fought and often died or “went down” together. It’s sad but the chorus is so empowering. One of my favourite live performances of the song for sure. In a word: Inspirational

  7. I was too young for the Vietnam conflict, but was involved in the first and second gulf war. The thankless disrespectful way those vets were treated is why my generation received so much love for our efforts. This song grabs me and makes me feel, as much as possible for someone not there, what the common foot soldier must have felt. It also speaks about how the Vietcong were resilient. It's also NOT preachy. It admits that maybe the US was wrong or maybe right, but in the heat of battle it matters little. This is by far the most passionate and emotional song I have ever heard from Billy Joel. AND he gave the subject the respect it was due.

  8. This song is a master piece hands down. I remember this tour. I think it was 1987/8 BJ was one of the First to tour behind the iron curtain after the Wall Fell.. It was an amazing time.

  9. I play this to all my young friends, it explains why we went, why some of us survived, some didn't. Damn near 50 years and it seems like yesterday.

  10. I was blessed to see Billy Joel live times in concert, once at Veterans Stadium in Philly with Elton John. This song is Joel's tribute to our Military in a War that was unpopular. Quit with the negative comments.
